December 11, 2018“MOSAIC OF THE NATIVITY: SERBIA, WINTER, 1993”
On the domed ceiling God
is thinking:
I made them my joy,
and everything else I created
I made to bless them.
But see what they do!
I know their hearts
and arguments:
“We’re descended from
Cain. Evil is nothing new,
so what does it matter now
if we shell the infirmary,
and the well where the fearful
and rash alike must
come for water?”
God thinks Mary into being.
Suspended at the apogee
of the golden dome,
she curls in a brown pod,
and inside her the mind
of Christ, cloaked in blood,
lodges and begins to grow.
Today’s Prompt:
Use one piece of paper, and one that has variety, to create your background, preferably your favorite color. Add other elements or not.
Everyday through December 25th, I’ll be making a 5×5 inch collage, writing a short entry on this blog and sharing a prompt for those who might want to participate along with me. You can follow my progress by subscribing to this blog through the sidebar on the blog homepage, or by following me on Instagram.

When I first saw the color of this collage, I thought “Melanie’s colors”. Love that you actually told people to select their favorite color as inspiration.
