Advent Day Six–Manage
December 6, 2013Advent Day Eight
December 8, 2013I just returned from my favorite run in the woods. A few new trees fell in the past few days, stones migrated from spots along the stream and the hunter’s four-wheelers churned up even more an already beaten section of trail. The quickness of change that I can see can’t compare to some of the other environmental changes that happen daily all around us.
The worst thing that will probably happen—in fact is already well underway—is not energy depletion, economic collapse, conventional war, or the expansion of totalitarian governments. As terrible as these catastrophes would be for us, they can be repaired in a few generations. The one process now going on that will take millions of years to correct is loss of genetic and species diversity by the destruction of natural habitats. This is the folly our descendants are least likely to forgive us. Edward O. Wilson, Biophilia
This is another side of anticipation, the change that our earth is experiencing right now during our lifetimes. I don’t have any answers, only determination to try to make my impact on the earth as light as possible. Here are 50 Ways to Help our Planet...how many do you practice? Maybe as we all move towards a new year we can all try to do more and more of these everyday.
That way we won’t end up like the bison.
