December 11, 2012Practice. One of my favorite words. I made a card that we sell at PRESS entitled Practice TAKES Practice. And it does. It can be an art practice, a yoga practice, a running practice, teaching practice, or law/medical practice.
Many people look at practice as a way of repeating a particular exercise or skill in order to get better–so a law or medical practice, or even an art or a teaching practice can be this, but it can also be something else: the application of an idea, method or belief. Using practice twice in the same phrase gets at this. The practice of a practice takes practice.*
Advent Day Ten
*I am not feeling so great. I really need to go to sleep but I wanted to post Day Ten’s Collage. But I can see that I am enjoy my words a bit. I hope you are too, and that you take the opportunity to practice something today, in any way that you choose to interpret that word.
