December 5, 2012Today is the 137th anniversary of Rilke’s birthday. How do I know this? Spike Mason reminded me.
Who is Spike Mason? Spike Mason is an improvisational jazz artist who recently commented on my blog about his album Widening Circles that was released today. He lives in Tasmania–a place that I have been lucky enough to visit a couple of times. Our paths never crossed when I lived there, but I would love to hear this music performed live. Take a listen if you have the time.
And what-do-you-know, today’s Advent image is based in circles. Complete coincidence, yet totally relates to Spike’s album, the title of which is from one of my favorite passages from Rilke’s Book of Hours.
I life my life in widening circles that reach out across the world. I may not complete this last one but I give myself to it. I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
