Going downhill on a bicycle

September 23, 2012On Saturday I spent the day making mail art postcards with pals Karen Arp-Sandel and Suzi Banks Baum at a DIY Fe-Mail Art Workshop at PRESS. What fun, moving around vintage papers, paste papers, wrapper, labels and off cuts from PRESS into collages to send to friends and loved ones. The ten of us working in the little red and orange floor room chatted, laughed and created. What fun!
And I did not once think of the looming deadline that is today, the day my tenure and promotion packet was due. Here are some of the collages I made:
These collages helped motivate me through the final crunch of getting my tenure file completed and submitted. It was due today. And then it wasn’t. After I turned it in at 9:20 a.m. I checked my email and saw that at the last minute the deadline was changed until next week. September 26, 2012. I waivered for a couple of hours, trying to decide if I should go get it and look at it one more time, or be confident in what I complied. I choose the latter.
Now time to let it be and go on, knowing I’ve done the best I could. Thanks Karen and Suzi for the great distractor and motivator!
