Advent Day Sixteen: Gaudete Sunday
December 16, 2012Advent Day Eighteen
December 18, 2012Today I wish you Haut les coeurs! Lift up your spirit, take heart, be brave! Have courage! I love that the French word coeur is derived from the Latin word cor, as is the word courage. Cor and coeur = heart. I mostly think of the word courage as having the strength to face a challenge, take on something difficult or scary, or to persevere no matter what. But courage also comes from the heart so then courage becomes to face all of these things from that place within, with a brave heart.
This collage began with an under-collage that I gessoed and on top of which I traced various positions of my hand–going back to my regular morning practice of reading something and then tracing my hand and writing. Today’s reading was centered on the idea that POWER = knowing that God loves you. When I saw the COEUR in my pile of papers, I had to use it. For me, power = coeur, so that means that living from the heart means living from a place of knowing that God loves you.
