Unlock 12.20.18
December 20, 2018Upside down 12.22.18
December 22, 2018We are always on a journey from darkness into light. At first, we are children of the darkness. Your body and your face were formed first in the kind darkness of your mother’s womb. Your birth was a first journey from darkness into light. All your life, your mind lives within the darkness of your body. Every thought that you have is a flint moment, a spark of light from your inner darkness. The miracle of thought is its presence in the night side of your soul; the brilliance of thought is born in darkness. Each day is a journey. We come out of the night into the day.

Today’s Prompt:
Likely you’ve noticed that I use an outline of the figure in many of my collages. Some of these are ones that I have drawn, others are from figures that I found in magazines which I trace onto other papers and incorporate into my work. For today, I want you to find such an image, something that has a strong silhouette, which will transfer nicely to any patterned paper. Use that patterned silhouette image to direct your work today.
Everyday through December 25th, I’ll be making a 5×5 inch collage, writing a short entry on this blog and sharing a prompt for those who might want to participate along with me. You can follow my progress by subscribing to this blog through the sidebar on the blog homepage, or by following me on Instagram.

I never knew you traced figures from magazines – I can do that! Love the straight lines on this piece. It would have been beautiful without it. But with it, it’s striking. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me.
Many of the “outlined” figures were originally from magazines. Some are mine, it’s a mix, but it’s a fun thing to do. It’s got to be the right kind of image, there has to be enough “negative” or “white” space around the image that you understand what it is as a silhouette.
