Observing the hidden natural world grounds my work. I look for patterns, textures, and tiny stories in my surroundings, bringing them into my books, drawings, collages, paintings or sculptures. What looks like birds at battle, figurative trees or colorful collages are part of my own metaphorical and symbolic commentary on my place in the world.

The life cycle of prey and preyed as a metaphor for human power games is at the heart of my current visual language and person symbology. I use robins and ravens to play out the struggle between the oppressor and the oppressed. I hope the viewer can find their own conflicted relationships or moments of feeling preyed upon in this imagery.

Bluebirds are beginning to enter my work, though…so keep checking back to this page for new additions!
